Have you recently been shaving your head as a way to combat your thinning hair and are pleasantly surprised with the results? Perhaps you are now rocking a look that you were initially unsure you could pull off. You walk around with a new confidence and spring in your step as you graciously accept compliments from family members and work colleagues alike. And yet, despite all of this, one thought remains weighing heavy on your mind. This is a short term solution because you know that in the not too distant future, as your hairline recedes and your bald spot at the back of your head grows, you may well have to go completely bald. This thought fills you with dread, or at least a slight discomfort. And while you take comfort in the fact that your temporary solution of shaving your head to a fine stubble to match the stubble on your face has so far worked brilliantly, you know you need a more long term solution.
Perhaps you have looked into hair transplants, but the concept of undergoing an invasive procedure for the sake of your hairline seems a bit too extreme, not to mention a bit pricey! Maybe you have already had a hair transplant, but did not get the results you were expecting and were left with some scaring on your head. Don’t worry, there is an alternative solution out there that is much less invasive than a hair transplant, that can show fantastic results in just two to three sessions, and that can help cover up any scaring left by previous procedures. Scalp micro-pigmentation could be a perfect option for you.
he process is extremely simple and straightforward. It is essentially a scalp tattoo. A dark pigment is injected into the epidermal layer of skin via an electric tattoo devise, injecting lots of tiny dots in different shades of black to replicate the look of shadow stubble on the scalp. The shade of black is tailored to an individuals complexion in order to create the illusion of the dots being their natural hair follicles. Each session typically takes around two to four hours to complete, depending on the size of the area being treated. The number of treatments one may undergo will also entirely depend upon the size of the area being treated, but most undergo three to five treatment sessions even if the area is small, as the pigment has to be layered into the skin. Usually the treatments will occur a few weeks apart in order to provide optimum healing. There are some guidelines that one must follow if they choose to undergo this treatment in order maximise the effectiveness of each session. You cannot get your scalp wet for five days after each treatment. This includes heavy sweating and so it is highly recommended that you go easy at the gym or avoid it all together for a few days post treatment. It is also vital than in the few weeks after each treatment you do not go swimming or use a sauna or steam rooms. Hot showers that produce lots of condensation are also not advised, even if you don't get your head wet. Furthermore, it is important that the patient does not expose their scalp directly to sunlight for the first five days after each treatment. These procedures should be continued for one month after the last treatment in order to ensure that the results of the treatment are as long lasting as possible.
The benefits of this treatment in comparison to more invasive procedures such as hair transplants are extensive. Firstly, various UK clinics advertise their micro-pigmentation sessions for as little as £450 to as much as £3000, depending on the size of the area being treated. By comparison, the cheapest hair transplants offered by UK clinics is around £5000. Any quote less than £3000 should be a cause for concern. However, they can be as expensive as £25,000, depending on the type of procedure and the extend of the hair loss.
Secondly, although hair transplants can be completed in around four hours, the patient will then need to return around ten days later to remove any stitches. A local anaesthetic is needed to perform the procedure and the incisions performed can leave some scaring on the scalp, which is why many turn to micro-pigmentation in order to cover these up. By comparison, micro-pigmentation is relatively painless, depending of course on your threshold for pain. Thirdly, to see the full results of a hair transplant, the patient must wait around 12-18 months. By comparison, after just two or three sessions, a patient undergoing scalp micro-pigmentation can expect to see tangible and realistic results.
Furthermore, when a patient undergoes a hair transplant, it can be quite obvious to those spending time around them - be it work colleagues or family. This is due to the process of the procedure, including the fact that any transplanted hair is likely to fall out two to three weeks after the procedure in order to make way for new hair to grow. By comparison, micro-pigmentation can be a more subtle method, which others may well mistake for the natural and gradual growth of very short hair on the scalp. Finally, although it is likely that the hair grown as a result of undergoing a hair transplant procedure will last for the rest of your life, it is not guaranteed. There are cases where the hair only lasts a few years before beginning to thin. With micro-pigmentation, the results typically last eight to ten years due to the natural exfoliation of the skin of the scalp. However, similarly to tattoos, a patient can return for “touch ups” every few years if they choose to. With micro-pigmentation there is more of a definitive timeline in regards to how long one can expect the results to last - you really do know exactly what you're paying for. It is therefore, financially less riskier. Why pay so much for a hair transplant that is not guaranteed to last.
To sum up, scalp micro pigmentation is a simple, straightforward, cost effective and subtle procedure that can help you to feel more confident and continue rocking that shaved head look that you love so much. Call the number below to book your free consultation and begin your journey with us today!
