Distressed by Hair Loss? Consider Scalp Micropigmentation by Carlisle SMP!
If hair loss is an issue for you and you have found some treatments ineffective or worry that some approaches, such as hair transplants or medicines, are too risky, then why not consider scalp micropigmentation? If you have never heard of this, then it is great for you to discover that it is a 100% safe, non-surgical cosmetic procedure that can help disguise hair loss caused by many conditions. These include receding hairline, male or female pattern baldness, alopecia, hair thinning, scarring and side effects of illnesses such as lupus or cancer, among others. The process involves a tattoo-type technique to inject the upper layer of your skin with natural pigments in tiny dots to replicate the appearance of natural hair follicles on your scalp.
The procedure can only be performed by trained professionals, that is why here at Carlisle SMP we are 100% focused on scalp micropigmentation techniques. Our fully qualified practitioners work to the highest of standards using state-of-the-art equipment to provide you with the results that you desire. We are dedicated to giving our clients excellent care in clean and relaxed surroundings because we want you to look great and feel your best.
The first step is a consultation with one of our practitioners to discuss if scalp micropigmentation is right for you, including any health conditions that you have and if your hair and skin are suitable for the process. The practitioner will also prepare a personalised treatment plan and give you a skin patch test to check that you are not allergic to any of the pigments that we use. If you are looking to disguise a receding hairline, then your practitioner will also help you select a new one that will suit your face, both now and in the future.
The procedure takes place over 2-3 sessions depending on the amount of coverage required. This is so your practitioner can build up the density of the pigments - skilfully matched to your own hair colour - to create a natural-looking scalp. They will use a specially designed microfine needle to deposit the pigment in a slightly uneven fashion to mimic the appearance of natural hair follicles. You can expect each session to last around 2-3 hours, and we wait for 10-14 days between each treatment to ensure the pigments have the best chance to take hold on your scalp.
Your practitioner will provide you with a care plan and it is essential to follow this guidance as it will aid the success of your treatment. This will include avoiding any activities that would cause excessive sweating, keeping your scalp dry, not touching your head, and avoiding strong sunlight during the first four days. Following this, you can get your scalp wet, but we recommended that you avoid using shampoo and opt for gentle cleansers instead. Moisturising the scalp after day four can also be helpful, especially if light scabbing occurs. Between sessions, notably after the first, you may notice that the pigment starts to fade, leading you to wonder if the treatment is working. This is nothing to feel uneasy about as it is a normal part of the skin healing process and will not impact the final result.
One question you may be asking yourself is how painful is scalp micropigmentation? The answer is that many Simple SMP clients said that while it started off feeling slightly sore, they quickly got used to it and described the process as a tingling sensation. If you are apprehensive that the treatment will cause bleeding, be assured that this is unlikely, but if bleeding does happen it is often minimal. However, as a precautionary measure, we do recommend that you avoid drinking alcohol, taking aspirin or any other substance that may cause blood thinning 24 hours before a session, as this could make any bleeding that does occur harder to stop. At the end of a session, you may notice some redness on your scalp, this is completely normal and usually disappears within 24-48 hours, you can wear a hat to cover it up while out and about if you wish to.
You must realise that the pigments we use are permanent and this needs to be considered before you decide to go ahead with the procedure. A positive thing to be aware of is that, unlike conventional tattoo inks, pigments do not change colour. However, they can fade over time, especially if a person spends a lot of time in the sun. Therefore, we recommend that you come in for a top-up treatment every 3-5 years to keep the appearance of your scalp maximised.
Here at Carlisle SMP, we believe the greatest benefit of scalp micropigmentation is achieving natural-looking hair, whether you are going for a shaved head look, seeking the appearance of fuller thicker hair, or wishing to camouflage a failed hair transplant. If your hair loss has impacted your self-esteem, then a successful treatment can help boost your confidence and allow you to go about your daily activities without feeling uneasy about your appearance.
Scalp micropigmentation is also a 100% effective alternative to other hair loss treatments. For example, hair transplants are far more costly and not always successful, while dietary supplements, medications, or devices may have minimal effect and often require long-term use to maintain any hair regrowth.
Another benefit of scalp micropigmentation is that it is affordable for most people. A full course of treatment at Carlisle SMP costs between £1,000 and £3,000 (payment plans available) depending on the amount of coverage you require, with top-up treatments ranging from £300 to £500.
